The best account for transfers in is the new Nationwide Champion ISA at 2.8% however it comes with some terms such as "You can make one penalty free withdrawal in each tax year at any Nationwide branch. For further withdrawals, in the same tax year, you must give us 60 days notice or if you can't wait lose 60 days interest".

What I personally would advise is if you haven't had the good fortune to get the 3.5% Santander account, then go for the 3.2% for this years allowance. If you have money sitting in one of the many 0.5% or lower ISAs to transfer into 2 seperate accounts; transfer what you aren't planning to use into either the Newcastle BS at 3% or Nationwide Champion ISA at 2.8% and the money you may need in the year into the Nationwide e-ISA with internet access and a decent (in the current market) interest rate of 2.75%.

Which are the best instant access ISAs? 9th of April 2010

#

Financial Institution

Rate

Term

Transfer in*

Min^ £

1

Santander: Flexible ISA 3.2% AER.

3.2%

Instant

NO

1

2

Barclays: Golden ISA - Issue 2.

3.1%

Instant

NO

1

3

Nationwide: Champion ISA**.

2.8%

Instant

YES

1,000**

4

Nationwide: e-ISA.

2.75%

Instant

YES

1

5

Santander: Direct ISA.

2.75%

Instant

YES

9,000

6

Newcastle Building Society Reward ISA

3%

Notice°

YES

500

°This account needs 120 days notice for withdrawals.
**Rate includes fixed bonus, 1.35% gross p.a. until 30 June 2011.
For balances under £1,000 a fixed interest rate of 0.10% gross p.a./AER applies, and you don't qualify for the bonus.
*The account lets you transfer your current ISA in.
